The Future Pathways Tech Program is an exciting after school initiative designed to ignite a passion for technology, digital innovation, and live broadcasting among middle school students. Led by professional instructors in the tech and broadcasting fields, this program takes place in STREAM Geeks Academy, a cutting-edge lab equipped with advanced tools to learn the trade. Students will enjoy a hands-on, immersive experience as they create, maintain, and build their own news channel featuring local community events. They will also engage in interactive live-streaming experiences, fostering creativity, enhancing technical expertise, and developing essential life skills such as communication, collaboration, and confidence.
The program will include various tech-focused activities, including:
Videography and Editing: Learn the art of filming and editing videos to craft compelling visual stories.
Broadcasting Techniques: Master the essentials of reporting, anchoring, and producing both live and recorded content.
Business and Marketing Skills: Explore strategies for promoting their news channel and building an audience.
Tech and Media Skills: Develop a foundation for careers in the tech, media, and broadcasting industries.
Team Roles and Collaboration: Gain experience in various roles, including producer, editor, on-air talent, and technical crew.

Location: STREAM Geeks Academy, 21552 Chicken Point Rd., Tilghman
Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, January 28th to March 19th
Transportation: A van will transport students from St. Michaels Middle School to STREAM Geeks Academy and then back to St. Michaels Community Center for Parent Pick-up
Eligibility: Open to 6th-8th graders
