How It Works:

The School Readiness program meets Wednesday and Thursday for 1-hour sessions at Mains Gate at Langdon Farms (7373 Tilghman Island Rd., Sherwood, MD). During these sessions, children are engaged in a variety of activities that enhance early literacy, communication, problem-solving, motor skills, and social interactions. Caregivers are required to be present, ensuring that they can actively participate and support their child's learning journey. The program aims to create a positive and stimulating learning environment, preparing children for the transition to formal education while building a supportive community network for families.  Families are welcome to attend one or multiple sessions.

Why It Matters:

The School Readiness Program plays a crucial role in the early development of children from birth to age four, laying a strong foundation for their future educational success. By engaging children in playgroup activities, the program helps interaction with their peers and development of essential social skills such as sharing, cooperation, and empathy. The inclusion of caregivers in the sessions ensures that children receive consistent support and encouragement, strengthening the bond between parent and child while enhancing the learning experience. The playgroups also offer opportunities for children to practice emotional regulation, language acquisition skills, and the development of gross and fine motor skills.
