Session 1

Monday:

Pre-K-2nd Grade

Master Gardeners -In the Master Gardeners class, young gardeners will dive into the wonders of fall gardening! Guided by Master Gardeners Mikaela Boley and Phyllis Thibodeau, students will learn all about seeds, soil, and the joys of growing their own vegetables. Together, we’ll work on outdoor projects in the school’s garden beds, including planting and caring for fall vegetables such as lettuce, radishes, and other greens. This hands-on experience will teach children the basics of gardening while fostering a love for the outdoors and an understanding of where our food comes from. Come ready to dig in and watch your garden grow!

Tuesday:

Pre-K-2nd Grade

Creative Stories - Join us for an imaginative and hands-on experience in "Creative Stories" with Amy Wise from St. Michaels Library! This engaging class combines the magic of storytelling with the fun of crafting. Each session features a captivating story read by Amy, followed by a creative craft related to the tale. Children will explore their creativity and enhance their listening and comprehension skills while making unique crafts inspired by the stories they hear. This is a wonderful opportunity for young learners to enjoy the world of literature and art in a supportive and interactive environment.

Wednesday:

Pre-K-2nd Grade

Fitness Explorers - Get ready for an adventure in movement with "Fitness Explorers"! This energetic after school class for Pre-K through 2nd grade is designed to introduce young children to the joy of physical activity through playful and engaging exercises. Each session features a variety of activities that promote fitness, coordination, and teamwork, including obstacle courses, fun games, and creative exercises. Our goal is to help children develop healthy habits, build motor skills, and boost their confidence in a supportive and fun environment. Join us as we explore the world of fitness and have a blast staying active!

Thursday:

Pre-K-2nd Grade

Crazy 8’s Math Club - Join the Crazy 8s Math Club, where math is never boring! Designed for our youngest mathematicians, this club turns numbers into fun-filled adventures. Each week, students will engage in hands-on activities that make math exciting and interactive. From building glow-in-the-dark structures to creating mathematical art, Crazy 8s is all about discovering the fun side of math. Students will not only learn basic math concepts but also develop problem-solving skills, creativity, and a love for numbers. Get ready to play games, build, and explore the wild world of math in a whole new way!

Friday:

Pre-K-2nd Grade & 3rd-5th Grade (Grouped separately)

3rd-5th Grade

Stream Geeks Academy - Tilghman Island Stream Geeks Academy offers Tilghman Island Elementary students an incredible opportunity to dive into the world of broadcasting and camera technology. In this hands-on program, students will explore cutting-edge equipment in a fully equipped studio and tech lab. They’ll receive lessons in basic computer skills and learn about the various roles involved in creating professional productions. With guidance from industry experts, students will produce and broadcast their creations, sharing their work with the community. This program fosters imagination, creativity, collaboration, and a sense of community giving. It’s an amazing chance for young learners to develop technical skills and unleash their creative potential.

Please note: This class takes place offsite. With parent approval, transportation to and from the location will be provided. Detailed transportation information will be emailed to the parents of enrolled students.

3rd-5th Grade

Karate - Get ready to kick, punch, and build confidence in our dynamic Karate class led by Black Belt Instructor Maddy Plog! This class is designed for all skill levels and focuses on the fundamentals of karate, including discipline, respect, and self-defense techniques. Maddy’s expert instruction and encouraging approach will guide students through basic stances, strikes, and forms, helping them to develop coordination, strength, and focus. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, join us to enhance your martial arts skills and have fun in a supportive and energetic environment.

3rd-5th Grade

Book Buzz - Dive into the exciting world of literature with "Book Buzz," led by Amy Wise from St. Michaels Library! In this interactive class, children will read highlighted sections from engaging chapter books and participate in lively discussions about the story's characters, themes, and plot. Each session includes a fun game or activity related to the book, bringing the story to life and enhancing comprehension. This class is a fantastic way for young readers to develop their analytical skills, foster a love for reading, and enjoy creative play inspired by their favorite books.

3rd-5th Grade

Crazy 8’s Math Club - Dive into the Crazy 8s Math Club, where math comes to life with exciting and challenging activities! This club is designed for 3rd to 5th graders who are ready to explore math beyond the classroom. Each week, students will tackle fun and engaging projects that make math hands-on and dynamic. From solving real-world problems to experimenting with cool math games and puzzles, Crazy 8s encourages critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. Whether building geometric structures or discovering patterns, students will enhance their math skills while having a blast. Join us to uncover the thrill of math and become a math whiz with Crazy 8s!

Culinary Club - Students from Pre-K to 5th grade will explore cooking techniques, learn about different ingredients, and prepare a variety of tasty dishes. Each session will include hands-on food experiences where kids will work together to create delicious recipes. Our club will feature special guest Melissa Pierce, a culinary expert, who will share her knowledge and passion for cooking with our young chefs. Melissa will guide students through exciting recipes and cooking tips, making each class an engaging and educational experience. Students will develop essential life skills such as measuring, mixing, and following recipes, all while having fun and discovering the joy of cooking. By the end of the session, kids will not only have new recipes to try at home but also a greater appreciation for the art of cooking. Come ready to get your hands dirty and your taste buds tingling! We look forward to cooking up some fun with you!

Pick-Up:  Designations of adults approved to pick up your child/ren must be in writing.  

Bad Weather Policy: If school is dismissed early for any reason, TASK will automatically be cancelled and parents should tune into the WCEI radio station.

Scholarships: Programs are open to all children regardless of their ability to pay. PLEASE contact XXXX for scholarships. All requests are strictly confidential. No child will be turned  away!

Transportation: Bus transportation is not provided. However, car pool information is provided upon request.

My child has my permission to participate in the Tilghman After School Kids (TASK) Program. I understand that injury is always possible as a result of participation in such an activity.

I hereby release Talbot County Public Schools, the Tilghman Area Youth Association, Inc., and their employees or volunteers from any liability due to injury of any kind that may occur before, during or after said participation in TASK activities. 

I understand that my child is required to participate in a homework segment of the program each day during TASK.
